This proved to be the biggest event in the show’s history in Melbourne with over 27,000 attending the event staged at the Melbourne Showgrounds on the weekend of 16-17 July 2016.
The two big Superstars winners for the weekend were Kylie and Adam Perry’s FB Holden, TAIL SPIN and Colleen and Chris Bitmead’s Falcon Coupe, XBOSS – which took out Grand Master, the top award on offer at MotorEx. Despite their dominance, it was a still a tight race, with Tail Spin winning three gold and three silver Champion Awards, versus XBOSS’s four gold and three silvers – that’s gold or silver in every category!
In Street Elite (MotorEx’s biggest category), standouts included Tony Gangi’s 1961 Buick LeSabre (Custom Cruiser), Grant Turner’s 1989 Toyota Hilux, (Tuner), John Fairbairn’s 1934 Chev (Hot Rod) and Jason Cooke’s (1966 XP Falcon), who each received a Pinnacle trophy – the top award in their respective categories.
